Two businesses have closed in a downtown plaza, but the Centre Mall’s owner is preparing for at least one new tenant to move in.
Café Esmerelda, at 192 Ontario St., and Gino’s Pizza, at 188 Ontario St., both have closed their doors over the last few weeks.
However, the plaza – across from Shopper’s Drug Mart – is preparing for at least one new tenant. A mortgage company is expected to move into the unit at 184 Ontario St. and there has been some interest in other vacant units.
In the last few months, several new businesses have opened in the plaza after owners John and Judy George completed extensive renovations. Marble Slab Creamery, U Weight Loss Clinic and State Farm – Jerry Francis Insurance Agency Inc. have all moved in recently.
