Georgetown Hospital has been experiencing a baby boom over the past year with the number of births up by more than 30 per cent.
To keep up with the community growth and the increasing demands on the Obstetrical Department, Georgetown Hospital (GH) is recruiting for registered nurses who have obstetrical experience.
“The baby boom is also due in part to the introduction of a second obstetrician Dr. Naiema Fiel in November of 2007, who has already established a very bustling practice in our community,” said Cindy McDonnell, Georgetown Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer and Family Practice Program Leader. “We are so busy that we now need more obstetrical nurses for GH to help support the obstetrical needs of the many young families in the Halton Hills area.”
Carol Burton, Clinical Resource Nurse, GH Obstetrics, has been an employee at the hospital for 34 years and said , “this small community hospital has provided me with an opportunity to establish many long term relationships with staff and patients. I also have had the opportunity to deliver a second generation of clients— grandmothers are recognizing me as their labour nurse— and this sense of continuity is rewarding. Our unit provides the whole spectrum of care from outpatient assessment, right through to after delivery, including baby care and breast feeding. This multifaceted job is challenging and educational,” said Burton.
