Local members of 756 Squadron Georgetown excelled recently at the Air Cadet League of Canada’s fifth Annual Air Cadet Debating Contest.
Seventeen teams representing 11 Air Cadet Squadrons participated, including five from the Hamilton Area, at Mohawk College Centre for Innovation & Technology in Hamilton.
The debating was designed around a specific topic that would or was being debated in the House of Commons; health care was the issue being debated by these teams.
756 Squadron team from Georgetown won the gold medal with team member F/Sgt Justin Crowe, winning the Most Outstanding Speaker Trophy.
The Squadron fielded two teams for the debate and 12-year-old team #2 member, LAC Andrej Coyle won the award for Best Speaker of the House.
