There are still quite a few prizes waiting to be picked up. Check that ticket tucked away in your wallet; you may be a winner. If you find a ticket, phone 519-853-5951 and the person on the desk will be happy to help you. The last date or picking up your prize is May 16.
Last Wednesday the Georgetown and Acton Seniors went to Rama. The 50/50 was won by Mary Van der Sanden. Celebrating birthdays were Shirley Beaumont, Mike George and Marian Pascoe. Sitting in the lucky seats were Isabel Nicholls, Mary Walsma, Ruth Burke, Edna George, Rose Batten and Rita Court. Note the next trip to Rama will be on a Tuesday for a change-- May 27.
The carpet bowlers had an enjoyable afternoon and Betty Blaine's Black team beat Marg Haring's Brown team, 16-7. Marg said Peggy would have been proud of the Black team.
The Art Class will resume on Wednesday, May 7 and the Paper Tole class is every Thursday at 7 p.m. Is anyone interested in learning how to create a three-dimensional picture by cutting and layering pieces of a picture. The results are quite stunning.
This weekend is our Spring Bazaar (May 10). Please try and take the time to drop in. It starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. You can buy lunch, lots of delicious baking, crafts and knitting, plants (indoor and out), and a great variety of paperback books. I always like to pick up a few paperback books, then if I am traveling, I can read them and happily leave them for someone else to enjoy.
If anyone would like to donate baked goods or items for the various tables, please bring them to the Centre either Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Saturday before 10 a.m.
I am hoping for nice weather on May 16 as a group of Gals on the Go and Hikers are going to either hike, or enjoy the gardens of the Royal Botanical Gardens. There is still room, if you would like to join us.
Last Monday, 59 Gals on the Go and Leather Town Lassies (Red Hats) with a sprinkling of men went to the Mohawk Raceway. We enjoyed the buffet dinner, and some had a little flutter on the horses. A few went to the Casino and tried their luck on the machines. I enjoyed the excitement of watching the horses run.
Next week will be busy at the centre. On Monday, May 12 we will be having our social dinner and the Gang from the Hill will be providing the entertainment. The Birthday Tea is the next day and we will be celebrating all birthdays in May and June. You should receive a phone call if your birthday falls during these two months and you may bring a guest if you wish.
The centre will be closed on Monday, May 19 for Victoria Day, and will re-open on Tuesday at 9 a.m. as usual.
Evening euchre will be on Wednesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. If you enjoy euchre come out and join us.
At the Thursday afternoon Bid Euchre, there were two mooners: Betty Brewer and Muriel Dzierla. It was nice to see Edna Nellis home and playing euchre after her winter escape.
