Summer Solstice art show opens today
Friday June 20 2008

Summer solstice is the longest day of the year and marks the beginning of summer. To celebrate this celestial event Chantal Garneau is hosting an Art Show and Crystal Sale at her studio, 66 Main St. S., that will begin on Friday, June 20 and run until the end of July.
All of the artists invited to display at this show are inspired by nature and reflect the magic and beauty of it through their works.
Using primarily a manual focus SLR, André Garneau creates images through unique compositions of everyday objects and scenes. His strong technical skills and creativity allow his photographs to stand as unique and individual pieces of art.
Dave Rankine’s detailed paintings and mandalas explore the connection of the visible world of matter and the invisible world of energy and intent.
Emma Bramma Smith has been described as a “spiritual surrealist.”  East meets West in her world of delicate, whimsical paintings and children’s illustrations, inspired by faith, philosophy, and unconditional love.
Naomi Assenheim reveals earth’s ancient mysteries and magic through handcrafted sacred jewelry made from rare precious and semi-precious stones and fossils set in silver and gold.
In Jackie Osmond Patrick’s most recent work photography has become her primary focus, as it is a more immediate way to communicate visually and connect to the world. For her organic forms appear sensual and abstract.
These artists will display their works amongst the natural art created by the Earth herself. Gemstones and crystals from around the world will be on display. Each stone is an individual and carries its own story.
The art show will open Friday, 3-8 p.m. during which time you will have the opportunity to experience the art of Dave Rankine first hand. He will be creating one-of-a-kind henna art that you can wear home.
The show will move to the street on Saturdayand become a part of the Festival on Main.
Garneau says, “this will be my fourth year participating in the festival and every year I am amazed by the talent and enthusiasm.” She will be displaying her crystals and offering intuitive readings during the festival.
The art show will be run throughout the month of July at 66 Main St. S., and can be viewed Fridays, 3-8 p.m., or by appointment. For more information you can contact Garneau, 905-783-8853 or at www.chanalgarneau.com
