I called the Town of Halton Hills last fall to complain about all of the dead lawns in my neighbourhood, and they replied that there was next to nothing they could do to remedy the problem, even though this new subdivision is quickly in peril of looking like a ghetto.
Rather than writing letters to the more than 10 houses in my neighbourhood who have completely neglected and killed their lawns, I decided to write The Independent & Free Press instead.
Come on, folks. I hardly think the people who have neglected their lawns are being eco-friendly. My family, and several others last summer managed to respect the water ban while keeping our lawns alive in the process. It takes very little effort to keep a lawn alive. I urge those with dead lawns to take more pride in the aesthetics of their community. Every bit counts.
