Effective July 1, the Indian consulate in Toronto has revised its visa schedules and fees.
The move, announced as part of overall revisions coordinated out of New Delhi for all Indian missions worldwide, is aimed at making visa formalities easier particularly for business and tourist visas, Tirath Singh, consul, told South Asian Focus.
For instance, tourist visas are now available for up to five years, while there is also more flexibility for those seeking employment visas, he noted.
Student visas are also available for the entire duration of the study program. Earlier, these had to be renewed annually.
“All applicants seeking visas for India are advised to check the fee schedule on our website, www.cgitoronto.ca, and enclose the correct amount of fees by demand draft/ money order/ certified cheque while submitting their visa applications,” said an earlier statement issued by the mission last week.
The search for a suitable private sector agent to which Canadian missions can outsource their visa services continues.
The consulate is meanwhile in the process of upgrading its website to facilitate easier interactivity, even as it readies to greet its new consul general later this summer.
Current incumbent Satish Mehta is scheduled to formally hand over charge in August, informed sources added.
